Transcriptions, as spelled by Stimson seventh grader Andrew Harrigan, won him first place in the Stimson Spelling Bee recently. “I wouldn’t say that I was a really good reader or speller,” admitted the modest student. “But I do read almost every day, and I really enjoy reading about history, especially the Prohibition Era and World War II. I enjoy that era because you can really see the huge changes that have taken place in a relatively short period of time.”

When he’s not winning spelling bees, Andrew can be found on the basketball court playing in his church league. And as soon at it begins to thaw, Andrew will be on the lacrosse field sharpening his skills as he looks forward to spring.
