The Stimson Boys Basketball Team accomplished their goal of an undefeated season finishing 10-0.  The team worked extremely hard all season in order to meet their objective.  Over the 10 games played, their average margin of victory was 20 points.  However, not every win came easy.  They had to claw their way to victory in a 2 point win over Hauppauge as well as a 3 point victory over Northport.

The team was led by 8th Grade Captains James Mattutat and Craig Stockfeder.  The pair provided the leadership on and off the court needed to make this season special.  Mattutat was a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.  His combination of size and agility caused fits for other teams.  Stockfeder handled the ball and distributed well—making sure to get all of his teammates involved.  Another standout player was 7th Grader Jevon Burke.  His speed and talent set was unmatched at the point guard position.  His ability to score and set up scoring opportunities was integral to the team’s success.  Griffin McNally took a big step forward this season.  He worked very hard in the offseason and it paid off.  He became a force offensively and defensively for the team.  7th Grader Jack Poplawski showed his high “Basketball I.Q.” on the court.  He was a player that could be counted on to continually make the right decision and get himself in the right spot on the court.  He will be looked at to take on a bigger leadership role next season with the Wildcats.

Coach Brian Karcz would like to thank each and every player for their hard work and dedication throughout the entire season.  The team was truly a pleasure to coach because we had a combination of talented, coachable, and friendly student-athletes.  Congratulations Wildcats!
