First grade students at Oakwood have been touring the globe with folklore.  Ms. Crespi’s library classes are studying the elements of folktales with stories from China, Mali, Japan, and North America.  In addition to drawing maps, students viewed an online atlas to see the correct shape and spelling of the country.  By hearing details in the stories, students discovered and discussed foods, language, and customs of other nations. Finally, they listened to traditional music via the Internet.
