Stimson/Silas PTA Cultural Arts Thrills Students!

In December, just prior to the winter recess, the Stimson/Silas PTA Cultural Arts Committee, headed by Ms. Regina Caliendo, presented an assembly by Chamber Theatre Productions for the entire 7th grade. With the support of Ms. Caliendo, Mr. Sansotta, Mr. Landau, and Mr. Kellerman the forum at Stimson was transformed into a Broadway Theatre, which included a full set and professional lighting and sound.

For over 30 years, Chamber Theatre Productions, from Boston Massachusetts, has provided students and teachers of literature, drama, and language arts with original adaptations of classic short stories. So, at approximately 9AM, the seventh grade entered the ‘theatre’ and were treated to Chamber Theatre’s ENCORE, an original two-act play which featured five stories, including; The Tell Tale Heart, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Monkey’s Paw, The Necklace, and the finale, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. During the performance there were shrieks of fright and rounds of laughter from the students, which authentically measured their engagement.

Needless to say, the performance was a tremendous success. Once again, thank you Stimson/Silas PTA for your continued dedication to all students.
