Gugliotta Tournament Win Gets Away from Whitman

After winning the first game of the Gugliotta Basketball tournament, the Whitman varsity boys basketball team found themselves up against Suffolk’s League V undefeated Harborfields Tornadoes.

The Wildcats fought hard against their neighboring rivals but the onslaught of eleven 3-point baskets by the Tornadoes kept the Wildcats on their heels and fighting to keep up much of the game. The Wildcats made a strong push in the 4th quarter scoring 21 points to Harborfields 19, but in the end, it was Harborfields taking the Gugliotta crown 76-60.

Scoring double digits for Whitman were Bedel Saget with 15 points, Travaun Patron with 14 points, and Savion Black with 10 points. The balance of the Wildcat scoring went to Joey Grasso- 7 points, KB Bamgbleu- 5 points, Nima Esmizadeh- 4 points, Chris Corbin- 2 points, Zach Cummings- 2 points, and Allek Hendrickson- 1 point.

Whitman will travel to Northport on Friday, January 3rd for a 6:15PM showdown before returning home for their League III, season home opener against Bay Shore on Tuesday, January 7th at 6PM in the North Gym.
