Mr. O'Connor’s class is on their way to opening the door to a whole new world.

Mr. O’Connor’s 4th Grade class at Maplewood Intermediate School participated in Code Academy’s Hour of Code. Hour of Code is an opportunity for every student to try computer science for one hour. During Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 9-15), Mr. O’Connor’s class took part in making history by joining over 10 million others in an Hour of Code.

Students had the opportunity to learn the basic concepts of Computer Science. They had a chance to work with JavaScript, Python, and drag and drop programming. Mr. O’Connor’s students were able to write their first computer programs and create some simple games.

This was a fantastic learning experience. Who knows? This may have inspired the next Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, Mark Zuckerberg or Steve Jobs.
