Walt Whitman Shops began a four-day Grand Re-Opening celebration today. The early morning ribbon cutting ceremony began with the wonderful sounds of the Walt Whitman Choral group under the direction of Mr. Steven Altinel.

School officials joined other VIP guests as speeches and proclamations marked the unveiling of a statue of the poet Walt Whitman, created by sculptor John Giannotti. A grand opening brunch was presented by Brio Tuscan Grill as guests mingled inside the newly reconfigured Center Court area.

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci lent a hand with the ribbon cutting. “The updates to the mall are beautiful and will bring increased economic activity to our community,” said Lupinacci. “I was proud to join the management of the Walt Whitman Shops for this exciting day, and I want to wish all the merchants and employees the best of luck. Happy shopping!”

The four-day celebration will continue with live entertainment, prize-an-hour giveaways, food and beverage sampling and fantastic shopping among dozens of new stores, many exclusive to Long Island, through the evening of Sunday, November 24.
