The Mercy College Mavericks women's lacrosse coach, Dawn Anselmin, now entering her second year as head coach, has aggressively recruited in the off-season and is looking to jump on the winning side of last year’s 500 season. Playing in the NCAA Division II East Coast Conference, the Mavericks have recently signed Walt Whitman’s All-County senior Nicole Kleet.

Nicole, an all-round athlete who has in the past played soccer, basketball, and volleyball, has been focusing solely on lacrosse as of late and is looking forward to leading her Lady Wildcats this coming spring. “Nicole Kleet has been a vital part of the Whitman girls' lacrosse program for the last 5 years,” said Varsity Head Coach John Labate.

As the Wildcats leading goals scorer for the last two years, Nicole has made a tremendous impact on the field. “Nicole’s heart and intensity have earned her recognition from her teammates and respect from her opponents,” said Coach Labate. “This will be her second year as captain, and we are expecting a lot of Nicole and her teammates.”  The Lady Wildcats are coming off a successful 10-5 season in 2013 and hope to make another playoff run in 2014.

Please come out and support Nicole and the 2014 Lady Wildcat lacrosse team during their spring 2014 season, which gets underway on March 25 at Connetquot. The team's  first home game is March 27 against Hauppauge.
