Countrywood second-graders in Mrs. Merola’s and Mrs. Wright’s classes were visited by a firefighter with the Huntington Manor Fire Department Hook and Ladder Company. Firefighter Mary Beth Kraese discussed the importance of fire prevention and provided safety tips to follow in the event of an emergency.

A highlight of her visit was allowing the children to handle some of the equipment used by firefighters.  She even dressed one of the teachers in her protective gear.  Students were treated to fire hats and coloring books, which serve as reminders of important messages such as “Don’t play with fire” and “If you smell smoke, stay low and go.”  Thank you to all of the firefighters in our community who work to keep us safe every day!
