The latest state high school soccer rankings are out and Walt Whitman is now ranked #2 in New York State, and # 1 on Long Island.

Boys Varsity Soccer Stay Undefeated- Playoff Bound
The Boys Varsity Soccer Team stayed undefeated with a 1-0 shutout of Connetquot yesterday. With the win, this pushes the team's record to 7-0 in League II play and 9-0 overall. It also qualifies the team for their first playoff berth in 4 years. Robin Bolanos netted the game winner with 11 minutes left off a through ball from Michael Lorello. Dan Zagorski saved 6 shots for his 5th shutout of the season. The team takes on Lindenhurst tomorrow.

Please come out and support the team at their next home game next Thursday, 10/10, against Hills East at 4pm.

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team battled their way into sole possession of first place in League II by defeating Central Islip by the score of 1-0. The Wildcat team is currently ranked #11 in the state. The two teams aggressively battled each other with neither one giving an inch until Robin Bolanos fired home his own rebound in the 52nd minute to put the Wildcats ahead. Dan Zagorski registered 7 saves for his 4th shutout of the season. This win improves the team's record to 6-0 in League II play and 8-0 overall. 

The Wildcats' next game is Wednesday against Connetquot. Come out and support the team at their next home game next Thursday against Hills East at 4pm.

The Boys Varsity Soccer team shut out Bayshore last Thursday by the score of 3-0. The win has moved the Wildcats to a #11 State ranking. Michael Lorello opened the scoring in the 13th minute off a feed from Hurde Jourdain. Robin Bolanos put the Wildcats up 2-0 in the first half off a pretty through ball from Jameson Latko. Hurde Jourdain sealed the victory with a rebound goal off the crossbar in the 76th minute. Dan Zagorski and Kevin Ticas combined to make 6 saves for the shutout. With the victory, this improves the Wildcats' record to 5-0 in League II play and 7-0 overall.

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team pulled out another win last night against Northport by the score of 3-2 in overtime.  Darwin Hernandez netted the game winner with 15 seconds left in double overtime to improve the Wildcats' record to 4-0 in League play and 6-0 overall. Robin Bolanos tallied two more goals to give the team two separate leads. Dan Zagorski stopped 9 shots to earn the win. The team looks to keep their winning streak alive tomorrow at Bayshore.

Boys Soccer Win Nets State Ranking

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team came from behind again to get the win against Hills East on Friday by the score of 5-3. This win moves the Wildcats' record to 3-0 in League II and 5-0 overall. In the latest NY State Poll that was released Sunday, Whitman's Boys Varsity Soccer is currently ranked #14 in the State.

The team opened the scoring on a beautiful header by Duglas Garcia off a cross by Jeff Sully. Albert Martinez struck a minute later with a rocket of a shot to make the score 2-0. After Hills East came back and took the lead 3-2, Darwin Hernandez headed in a Mike Lorello corner kick to tie the score at 3. Hurde Jourdain got the eventual game winner by cleaning up a rebound goal in the 68th minute. Darwin Hernandez and Mike Lorello connected again on another corner kick to put the game out of reach in the 77th minute. Dan Zagorski made 6 saves in order to secure the win.
