The South Huntington Education Foundation (SHEF) held their 10th annual family fun day under a picture perfect sky and the community once again decided that the lush grounds of West Hills Day Camp was the place to be. Families spread out over the campgrounds and enjoyed; boating, a nature center, swings, playgrounds, heated pools and the hugely popular giant water slide. Feeding the many families kept the grillers busy all day, as everyone enjoyed salads, soft drinks, hot dogs, and hamburgers.

A new addition this year was an entertainment stage where many local groups performed. Alex Dollin, from SuperSound Entertainment emceed the event keeping a full slate of performers busy all afternoon and delighting the audience. Also new was a vendor’s row with locally made items as well as professional services. This fundraiser helps SHEF purchase many items not in the school budget that help support a quality educational experience for the children in the South Huntington School District. Just this past year SHEF purchased several NAO robots that will be utilized by students as they explore STEM curriculum.

The ever-popular dunk tank featured principals Mr. D’Elia, Mr. Toto, and Mr. Smith, as well as teachers Mr. Callahan, Ms. D’Elia, Ms. Cirillo, and Mr. Schmidt. The students couldn’t be any more excited as they lined up for a shot at dunking their principals and teachers. Also enjoying the moment were your BOE members who lined up for their shot at dunking Schools Superintendent Dave Bennardo.

SHEF would like to thank the community for their incredible support in making this day very special.

SHEF would also like the thank Alex Dollin of SuperSound Entertainment and the following Sponsors: From Stage To Screen, UFG Gyms, Bay Way Arts Theater, Ten Tigers Kung Fu, Jam Dance Studio, Two Brothers Printing, Five Towns College, Lolly Cakes and More, Art Appeal, the Peoples United Bank, and Mass Mutual Financial Group.
