Overview:  Students will be able to differentiate between words that are spelled with the “aw” and words spelled with the “au”. Students will also practice dragging their spelling words into the colored shape.

Lesson Sequence:

1. Using the overhead monitor the teacher will explain that the class will be reviewing their spelling words using Kidspiration.

2. Review all spelling words. Have students identify the vowel sound they hear in the words. Explain to the students that while they may hear the same sound, the sound is sometimes spelled differently. When it appears at the end of the word it is usually spelled “aw”, when it is in the middle of the word it is often spelled “au”.

3. Review how to highlight each word so that it can be dragged to the correct color.
